Resume Resources

Your resume is your ticket to landing the interview, so check out these hot tips from our team of recruiters. We look through resumes day in and day out — here are some ways that yours can stand out.

Your resume only has 6-7 seconds to make an impact. Check out these resume and LinkedIn tips to learn how to make those seconds count.

Highlight the good stuff
  • Qualify AND quantify your impact

  • State what you achieved rather than how you achieved it. (Fear not, you’ll get to cover this when you land the interview!)

  • Advocate for yourself by sharing awards, certifications, or volunteer accomplishments you have received.

Organization is key: what goes where
  • Be sure your name, function or specialty, and contact information are easy to find.

  • Skills, tools, and programming languages should have a dedicated section on the page so that they are easy to locate.

  • Traditional education and training programs can come last, as you should use your work experience to speak for you!

Create a turnkey experience
  • Focus on the details: remember font, size, grammar, etc. and use a format that is easy to follow

  • Clarify your narrative. Make sure that your resume reflects your journey and trajectory the way you want to be understood.

  • Make sure your files are PDFs, rather than Word Docs, to ensure formatting stays intact.
